“Today is the day of bloodshed and payback.”

“No blame will be upon you today. Go, you are all free.”

Rather than accepting his message, the leaders humiliated him. They incited street boys to mock, clap at, and stone him. The Prophet ﷺ was wounded so severely that his blessed sandals filled with blood.
Yet, when the Angel of the Mountains came and offered to crush the town between the two mountains at the Prophet’s command, the Prophet ﷺ responded with mercy and vision:
“I hope that Allah will bring from their descendants people who will worship Him alone.”

One such profound incident involved Zayd ibn Sa’nah, a well-known Jewish scholar from Madinah.
The Prophet ﷺ had once taken a loan from Zayd ibn Sa’nah, and though the repayment date had not yet arrived, Zayd came to demand it three days early.
Instead of asking politely, he pulled the blessed cloak off the Prophet’s ﷺ shoulder and spoke harshly, accusing him and his tribe by saying:
“O descendants of Abdul Muttalib! You are known for not fulfilling your promises!”
Despite this blatant disrespect, the Prophet ﷺ remained calm and smiled. His patience in the face of insult displayed the depth of his noble character.
Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA), who was present, was furious and wanted to reprimand Zayd, but the Prophet ﷺ stopped him and said:
“O Umar! What you should have done was advise me to fulfill my obligation properly and tell him to demand his due with courtesy.”
The Prophet ﷺ then instructed Umar to repay Zayd in full, and not only that—he told him:
“Give him an additional 20 sa’a of dates, because you frightened him.”

His forbearance exceeds his anger.
